New Day

It is almost the end of the year. Can't believe what a year I have had. It was a good one. Health issues with my Dad many trips back and forth from Las Cruces to Albq. Became a foster parent in March. My first kid a 16yr. old boy was with me for two weeks then he ran as far as I know he is still on the missing list. June 1st. I was given a 16yr. old girl and so far so good. She has been a good kid. Some rough days in November and not knowing if she was going back to jail or not so my nerves were on edge but trying to have faith that she would be given another chance and sure enough her JPO said he would give her one more chance so here we are.

Got a Christmas surprise, a little dog. I started this bit on Thursday then I realized my dog Grace was no where to be found so had to drive to my friend's house, about a block or so away to get her, this is another story for another time.
The Christmas dog was running in the cotton fields as we approached my friend's house and her sister said as they were driving up the little dog almost got hit by a car! The kids went outside to look for it and brought it in gave it some food and water and the question of who is going to take it came up so I volunteered to foster it until we found the owners or a good home for it.
Baby is the name that Ashley gave her. The vet tech. said she looks ok a little under weight but not much, looks to be about 2yrs. old. Teeth look good. Black and white a Boston Terrier mix with Chihuahua she is sooooo cute with those big ears.

We brought in the New Year by going to church. Was great to be worshipping God instead of drinking. Ashley said it was different for her but that she liked it. I think her heart is becoming tender towards the things of God. I pray I do right by her.

Good night for now and blessings for a Happy and Blessed New Year.

The End of The Day

Almost the end of the year and the start of a new one, can't wait to see what it holds for us. Ashley has been seeing a young man. He has been over here a few times now and seems like a nice guy. They have called each other almost every day since she was approved to call him. I am beginning to feel comfortable in this parent role but I don't want to feel too comfortable and then get the rug pulled out from under me. I wish she would show more emotions about what was done to her and what she has done to get herself in this mess also. I wonder if some people just don't know how to let their emotions out or if things really don't bother them?

We had a good day

Christmas Day. The End of the Day

Merry Christmas! Well another one under the belt but this one was much different than the last ones. Why because this year I was a parent giving a child a Christmas. Instead of sitting in my home with just the animals and opening a few gifts this time I was in the living room with my "kid" taking turns opening gifts, taking pictures, drinking hot chocolate, enjoying the morning. Still had the two dogs right in the middle of things helping Ashley with her gifts :) So Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

The End of The Day

My first outing with my foster daughter on her first "real" date and of course my first time chaperoning. For the last few days she and her friend have been talking on the phone wanting to do something but neither of them making any plans, setting up a time, they say they just want to "kick it" what does that mean? Can I read their minds? NO. A seems to think I can. Does not understand the concept that I have things to do also and things most of the time needs to be done in order but, since we both are learning how to be a parent and daughter I think this will be manageable.
